The world has just dropped for me this morning. I used to follow Mike in the very early days. I am so very sorry for your loss...I'm devastated so God knows how you all feel...my heart goes out to everyone who was touched by Mike's being.

The trade mark laws are there to protect the consumer not the manufacturer! You are only braking the law if you don't disclose that it is a fake, replica, reproduction or what ever you want to call it, and try selling it as an 'Authentic' Gibson. Same reason you can find manufacturers making and selling reproductions of Shelby Cobras. Because the customer is well aware they aren't making and selling original Shelby Cobras! Where the grey area comes up is, the people buying Chibsons from China online are almost all aware they are buying a Fake, however China is most assuredly trying to pass it off as 'Authentic'. And if you buy Chibson and then try to sell it to someone else as a real gibson you are most definitely braking the law.

Let Gibson fight for its own intellectual property. It isn't my responsibility to protect any company. Buy what you like. If you want a real Gibson with less quality because it is authentic, so be it. If you find a replica that has higher quality, so be it. It just isn't my problem. I've done decades of research and know what I'm buying. How is this all that different than murphy lab relicing guitars to appear to have 50 years of road wear? In my mind , that is forging 50 years of time. Who is to say a serial number can't be forged and the guitar sold as a legit classic?

I believe that Eric Clapton has lead a controversial life style that has caused him lots of pain, he had a 3 year old daughter walk out of a window while staying at a 5 star hotel 4 stories up! Goodness... I've gone from buying a B-stock Harley Benton Travel-E this morning, partly after finding Mike's review of it, through to... well, the full story. Earlier today I was fretting about the choice hell of buying a travel guitar and knowing how best to spend limited resources. But the most limited resource of all is... time. This is a powerful reminder. RIP Mike, and thanks Andy. I'm off to the greenhouse to celebrate new life and a bit of hope. But my new, smaller, guitar is to make life easier when I sing at care homes, sometimes going to individual rooms where there's not much room. There are many ways to leave this world, but few of them are elegant or pleasant. All the more reason to enjoy what we can, while we can. Thanks, Mike, for reminding me of what really matters.

It's totally legal to sell our Chibson Les Paul Tribute Guitars so long as you prepare a document that clearly states that the guitar is not a real Gibson but a replica. You and the buyer would sign the and date the document and both keep copies of the paperwork.

No offense... But out of morbid curiosity: Have purchased (6x) Ch(G)ibson + (1x) Ch(F)ender GTRs here in 2024. Amazed regarding the overall fit & finish of the instruments. Only one GTR was set-up properly (zero work required). The other units all required (4-6) hours of frustrating neck work (scraping fret boards + fret polishing + neck truss adjustments + fret leveling). That doesn't include eventual re-stringing with new D'Addarios + intonation, etc.... However, if you are able to perform this work, the rewards are surprisingly excellent. The key of success is neck work. Pick-ups are a matter of taste + your pre-amp/amp combinations, so not important in this discussion. Comment: I know so many players who swap perfectly high quality pick-ups on great Gibsons and Fenders, so that should not be a topic of concern for most all at this time... Haa - we have all been there...! Also - I do own my share of (6x) Gibsons and (5x) Fender products (and 4x Martins)..., so I believe I am able to pass down an honest commentary for your consideration. Thank you

My personal Diary I wrote the next day after the last show of Randy Rhoads in Knoxville Tennessee! RIP RANDY! YOU ARE SORELY MISSED! OZZY OSBOURNE: THURSDAY MARCH 18TH 1982: RANDY RHOADS LAST SHOW AT THE KNOXVILLE CIVIC COLISEUM: DIARY OF A MADMAN TOUR: Upon entering the coliseum after buying my tour shirt and ticket 🎫 stub processing: I noticed the stage was set up like a medieval castle with arches and bats 🦇 flying around the top of them. There was a staircase leading up to Tommy Aldridge’s Drumkit. The top left of Tommy was where Donny Airey’s keyboards were set up. Stage right and left had to cages with which Randy Rhoads would appear from the floor stage right and Rudy Sarzo stage left. OZZY had a throne of which he would appear out of to start the show to Over the Mountain. Tommy had his drum tech dressed as an Executioner stand beside his kit with his arms crossed. The staircase had a small section that would open and a small dwarf named: Ronnie (after Ronnie James Dio the new singer for Black Sabbath-replacing OZZY) and hand OZZY towels and water between songs. Little did we all know that later in the show: the executioner would bring the dwarf out to be hung from the rafters and later he would cut off his head using a guillotine! At the end of the show OZZY climbed onto a giant mechanical hand that OZZY stood on top of and launched unspecified meat 🥩 🍖 into the audience! Of course it was all an a theatrical act as the dwarf appeared to take a bow with OZZY and the band. When OZZY smiled we noticed he put vampire 🧛‍♀️ teeth in! We laughed hard! I went to the show with my friend Richard and his older brother Greg who was 18 at the time. We were 13. Greatest show on earth! Richard and I were both terrified and thrilled at what we witnessed! Unfortunately the next morning all that excitement and energy was gone as we learned that Randy Rhoads perished in a plane crash in Florida. Richard and I played drums but Greg played guitar 🎸 and he definitely took it the hardest! One of the greatest guitarist of our generation and had just won the new guitarist of the year by Guitar Player magazine. Rest In Peace Randy Rhoads your music lives on! Sincerely, Gary Lagstrom

I have a few Chibsons, they are pretty much Epiphones with a Gibson headstock shape and logo. I have put the ProBucker pickups in most of the Chibsons I own, easy swap and better sound with the added benefit of the push pull coil tap/split. Most of them need a fret level, polish and a good setup. If you do those things, then you have a guitar as good, if not better than the Epiphone for less money. There are a few cosmetic things I usually do like the truss rod cover and the pickguard if it's a Les Paul Custom, not necessary, but it looks better IMHO.

You brand slaves are a joke. Hes clearly a shill for HB. Theres a builder called Cathy Customs in China that makes the best replicas, even high end specs for affordable price. Theres a reason so many of us gave up on authentic gibsons. Terrible treatment of employees, weaponized lawsuits, pisspoor qc, and increasing prices with no justification in an already difficult economy.
